I currently hold the position of Deputy Head at the school, with a focus on Assessment.
I've been a teacher for 20 years, and I've been at Sandling for 14 of those years. This school is a community, and I think that my length of service shows how much I enjoy working with the entire staff, the governors, the parents, and most importantly, the students.
As a member of the governing body, I am in a good position to ensure that the governing body receives timely presentations of all aspects of the school's performance with regard to student achievement and progress, ensuring clarity of presentation and accountability of standards achieved.
Along with the other members of the governing body, the staff governor has an extremely significant role to play.
I'm honoured to hold this position and am forward to return to the governing body.
For the past three years, I have served as a co-opted governor at Sandling Primary School.
Since 2004, I have worked as the school business manager at Sandling Primary School.
As a member of the Finance Group, my position on the Governing Body entails close collaboration with the Governors, with special responsibility for Finance and Site.
I put a lot of effort into helping our school continue to improve because I am quite proud of it.
I started serving as a parent governor at Sandling Primary School this year, but it is the first time I have taken on a position like this. Throughout the years, I have worked at the school in the classroom and at other activities.
My background is in mental health, NHS management, and most recently, quality and health-related work in the construction sector.
I'm grateful for the chance to serve as a parent governor and think I can contribute with my background in the public sector and in health and safety.
Since May 2016, I have been a co-opted governor.
Emma, who is in Year 3, and I are Sandling parents.
Since my daughter started attending in 2013, I have been actively associated with the school as part of my current position as Treasurer of FoSS.
Recently, Sandling Primary School appointed me as a co-opted governor (March 2018).
Although I have never been a member of a school's governing council, I have more than ten years of board experience working for a charity that supports a residential home for adults with learning problems.
Good communication skills, tolerance, passion, and a willingness to learn are the attributes I wish to bring, along with the capacity for lateral and logical thought and a sense of humour.
As a governor, I hope that in addition to participating in the general affairs of the governing body, I will be able to take a special interest in the education, welfare, and accomplishments of Sandling School's students with special needs and disabilities.
Husband works as a governor for Sandling.
I had served as a school staff member on the governing bodies of three different schools before being appointed as a community governor to the governing board at Sandling Primary School in 2015.
My husband John Viner and I have been residents in Penenden Heath for 18 years. John is also a member of the governing body.
Two of my sons and two of my stepsons have long since left the home.
As a Sandling Primary School governor, I am able to use my career experience in many ways but my key responsibility is for Safeguarding and am delighted to be able to serve the community as a governor of such an effective and friendly school.
I was selected to the Sandling Primary School board of governors in January 2018 as a parent governor.
For the past two years, I have served as the lead midday meal supervisor at Sandling School.
My 17-year-old husband and I both reside in Maidstone, and we have three kids who range in age from nine to fourteen.
I recently earned my certification as a teaching assistant, which has given me more understanding of how a school operates.
Being a governor, I will be able to draw on this knowledge to fulfil my role more effectively.
My interest as a governor is for families and the larger school community.
What a privilege it is to personally support Sandling Primary School's ongoing success.
Rank & Committee: Chair.
I have been a co-opted governor at Sandling since January 2016.
I currently serve as Chair, having considerable experience of school governance and being Chair of another Kent school.
I have a background of school leadership, having led five primary schools over a quarter of a century.
I currently work as a freelance education adviser, trainer and consultant.
I have lived in Penenden Heath for nearly 20 years and am married to Elizabeth Nicholson, who is also a Sandling governor.
Being a governor of our local school is a great privilege and I hope that my knowledge and experience of education can make a contribution to shaping and sustaining the strategic development of the effective and happy place that is Sandling Primary.
