Within the Diocese of Leeds, Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School serves the parishes of Sacred Heart, Ilkley, St. John Fisher, and St. Thomas More, Burley.
It has a long tradition of offering an education of consistently high calibre in all subject areas.
The highly qualified and committed staff put in many hours to uphold the school's dedication to quality and help the students develop into articulate, self-assured young adults who enjoy life and take advantage of its opportunities.
The school's mission statement urges each member of the school community to share the gospel with others through all they say and do as a chosen child of Christ.
Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to get involved with the school in a number of ways, such as attending whole school Masses, Liturgies, and Assemblies, going to Information Evenings, joining the Academy Council, volunteering in the classroom, raising money for the Sacred Heart School Association, serving on the Carnival Committee, and attending Open Mornings and Evenings.
The "Open Door" policy at the school guarantees that anyone connected to it can speak with staff members about school-related concerns at mutually convenient times.
In April 1998, the then-DfEE recognised Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School as a "very successful school."
Despite the DfES's decision to end the Beacon Schools Initiative, many of the joint projects with neighbourhood schools continue to advance knowledge and boost academic performance throughout the Wharfe Valley in areas like special education needs, early childhood development, and assessment improvement.
We keep working to uphold the excellent educational standards that were noted in our most recent OFSTED inspection (January 2007).
In every aspect of the inspection framework, Sacred Heart was rated "Outstanding" by the Section 48 Diocesan inspection (March 2018).
In August 2015, the National College for Teaching and Learning classified Sacred Heart School as a "National Support School."
