From the Redmile Church of England Primary School
Christian and British values, spirituality, and faith serve as our guides at Redmile.
Through the experience it provides to all of our students, we encourage an understanding of the relevance and meaning of faith and promote Christian and British values.
Our vision and values were developed with input from staff, students, parents, and governors and are a testament to how well our partnership works as a whole community.
In the "Prevent Strategy," the government outlines its definition of British values and emphasises that schools must make sure that these values are taught throughout the United Kingdom.
At Redmile Church of England Primary School, we have always valued educating our students about the multifaith and multicultural Britain that we now call home.
Our school is firmly rooted in democracy.
Children are aware about the expectations at our school since they were all involved in developing the school regulations; our strict behaviour code, developed by the children with the help of staff, governors, and parents, includes both rewards and consequences.
Every class participates in the singing and discussion of the School Rule Song to ensure that everyone knows what is expected of them and how to make wise decisions. This helps to ensure that every child may study in a fun, safe environment where everyone helps one another.
When they go on outings and visits outside of school, we want our kids to behave perfectly. They are also taught through our behaviour policy what happens when they disobey the rules and that making the wrong decisions has repercussions.
When they are not in class or when we have visitors, our kids consistently receive compliments for their wonderful behaviour and demeanour.
With the knowledge that they are in a secure and encouraging atmosphere at school, students are actively encouraged to make decisions.
We as a school set limits so that our students can make decisions safely by offering a safe environment and a liberating education.
Our students are given the freedom to choose, whether through the curriculum or by taking part in our extracurricular activities.
Additionally, students are given the chance to participate in their own learning by jointly creating personal goals with their teachers and by evaluating their own performance.
One of the guiding principles that is evident in our school is respect.
The teaching and learning of Christian values is inherent in all we do, but specifically taught through Religious Education, Collective Worship and Personal Social Health and Citizenship Education(PSHCE).
Self-esteem and healthy interpersonal interactions are aided by this.
Our school enhances pupils understanding of different faiths and beliefs through a broad approach to Religious Education, using the Leicester Syllabus for RE, through our daily acts of Collective Worship and our varied PSHCE curriculum.
