Education History The Quinta Primary School has had a solid reputation for all 46 of its years, one that Ofsted deemed "well earned" in their most recent report.
In February 1968, Sir Bernard Lovell, who was then Manchester University's professor of astronomy, inaugurated the Quinta Primary School in Congleton, Cheshire (founder of Jodrell Bank Radio telescope).
The Quinta, a sizable mansion next to the school on Sandbach Road in West Heath that was demolished in 2003 to make room for a new housing development, served as the inspiration for the school's name, as did an arboretum in nearby Swettenham.
A huge five-bedroom house is referred to as a "quinta" in Portuguese.
Mr. Hargreaves served as the school's first headteacher when it opened with 125 students enrolled in five classes.
The school's success continued, and the personnel grew to include a head teacher, 10 instructors, and two teaching assistants.
314 students were enrolled at the time, and the school had 11 classes.
Miss Tracey Walklate, the current headteacher, was chosen in April 2006.
The school celebrated its 40th anniversary in September 2008, and Mr. Hough and Lady Winterton visited once more to take part in the festivities.
The Year 6 students travelled to London to the Palace of Westminster to commemorate the occasion.
The school continued to expand and prosper in Congleton after converting to academy status on January 1, 2014.
The headmaster, seventeen teachers, one higher level teaching assistant, and eight classroom teaching assistants who support entire class work and special needs in the school now make up the staffing structure for the school, which currently has over 300 students enrolled.
Congleton youngsters continue to receive a top-notch education from the school, which also excels in academics, athletics, and the arts both locally and abroad in Cheshire East.
The school will commemorate its 50th anniversary on July 12th, 2018.
