The Foundation's goal is to create and maintain inspiring learning environments at Wakefield Girls' High School and Queen Elizabeth Grammar School that are tailored to the unique requirements of boys and girls. Both institutions have a proven track record of providing top-notch single-sex education. In fact, it was so effective that starting in September 2011, all students starting at age 4 were included in the programme at the junior schools. Boys at QEGS and girls at WGHS have excelled in academics and extracurricular activities ever since the schools' founding, winning regional and national accolades in an ever-growing spectrum of pursuits. Sports, music, theatre, travel, and adventurous challenges round out the academic environments that are laser-focused on bringing out the best in each of the 2,200 boys and girls enrolled in the schools. The schools run by the Foundation, in our opinion, provide the "Best of Both Worlds." On one campus (all the schools are within a few minutes' walk of each other) the different and distinctive learning needs of boys and girls are fully embraced, whilst the benefits of joint projects and musical and dramatic productions are enjoyed at all levels. The Foundation, which has a 400-year history, continues to grow, with its schools operating and being governed in accordance with our shared ethos and dedication to single-sex education.
