"The school has two Junior Mixed Departments, which each hold 520 students, and a Senior Mixed Department, which has 1,480 students (each with 480 places). For manual instruction, domestic science, general science, and arts and crafts, separate rooms are also available. The school is divided into three independent divisions that are connected to the main assembly hall by covered walkways. The site is 3 acres in size, and the buildings' arrangement has been heavily influenced by the fall of 45 feet from City Road to Queen Mary Road. The classroom units are divided by moveable partitions with floor tracks that are sufficiently spaced to allow each classroom to be set up to accommodate different numbers of children. The District School Clinic is one of this school's unique features. This is completely self-contained and has a dental office in addition to medical examination and treatment rooms. The building cost 48,314 according to the contract, which was completed by Messrs. W. Marlow & Sons, Ltd., of Sheffield ".
