From the Portway Junior School
Being the head teacher at Portway, a three-form entry junior school with a wonderful "family feel," makes me feel incredibly pleased.
We have outstanding relationships with all of Andover's primary and secondary schools, including Portway Infant and Harrow Way Community Schools.
All of our children have made us incredibly proud.
Our staff puts a lot of effort into making sure that our curriculum is interesting, up to date, and alive with many of opportunities to engage and inspire kids to study.
We employ innovative teaching strategies in order to help our students grow into mature, well-rounded adults who are prepared for secondary education.
Our staff members are exceptionally committed, and they provide each of our students with extremely high-quality instruction, nurturing, and caring.
The strong relationships that exist between the students, teachers, parents, and governors define the school.
We produce and distribute a weekly newsletter called the Portway Press that informs everyone in our community of news and events.
Although Portway maintains high academic standards, we are equally proud of our accomplishments in the performing arts, music, and sports.
We were thrilled to obtain a very favourable report from OfSTED in February 2019, and we want to build on this success over the ensuing months and years.
Our school was constructed in 1952, and the Y3 wing was completed in the 1970s. It provides a large and lovely setting for learning.
We are lucky to have a school with cutting-edge amenities and a long history of being at the centre of the neighbourhood.
I am pleased of everything we accomplish at Portway Junior School, and I, together with the hard-working staff, think we provide a joyful and welcoming environment where kids can develop to their greatest potential and become accountable and caring members of the community.
Our school's vision statement, which was developed by our students and embodies the principles we think are important, is provided below.
