Poolsbrook Primary Academy

We are a tiny rural school situated on the outskirts of the magnificent surroundings of Poolsbrook Country Park. Because of the gorgeous surroundings that can be seen from the front of the building, Poolsbrook is a terrific school to be a part of. Our Poolsbrook Primary Academy emblem, which depicts the village's mining history (the wheel and the lamp) and the country park (the trees and the wildlife), expresses our pride in our school and its setting. The George Barrow Family Coat of Arms is also associated with the band that runs along the centre. George Barrow, who married Elizabeth Mather Lowe, became the owner of the Staveley Forge and Iron Works, which constructed many of the homes for the miners' families in Poolsbrook village. Even though the original "mining homes" are no longer there, the school now honours this tradition by naming its "houses" after notable local mines such Markham, Bolsover, Arkwright, and Ireland. Our children are terrific people who love to learn, and we are very proud of them. We are immensely proud of each of their special abilities as well as the positive attitude and open mind with which they approach learning. Their families, schools, and communities are proud of them.
