I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to you at The Federation of Newent Schools.
The Federation of Newent Schools is a primary school that takes pleasure in giving all of the children in its care a loving and high-quality education.
The Glebe Infants and Picklenash Juniors schools, which make up the site, have a warm and inclusive atmosphere with deeply ingrained whole school principles.
Make sure that everyone develops to their greatest potential in a setting that is safe, encouraging, and helpful.
Along with emphasising the fundamental academic subjects in school, we also understand the importance of helping children grow as individuals. As a result, we strive to offer a variety of possibilities that help kids get ready for the next stage of their education as well as life in general.
Visit Glebe Infant School and Picklenash Junior School if you're looking for a school for the Reception class of 2019 or any other primary year group.
Both Schools have undergone a significant transformation since my appointment as Executive Head Teacher in September 2017.
As Head Teacher, I have now had time to mould a Senior Leadership team and staff team that has the expertise, knowledge, and experience to give the children in our care an excellent education.
The curriculum, which is essential for encouraging learning and realising academic achievement, has been evaluated and modified to meet the needs of our students in our setting, each of whom has specific requirements.
This will enable us to further enhance the care we provide for all of the kids in our care.
Our Early Years Department bases the entirety of their teaching on carefully chosen picture books to ensure that a "5-a-day" reading approach is instilled.
A significant component of the other year group offerings is travel and visitors: A few recent activities include evacuee encounters, Stone Age archaeological digs on school property, zoo visits handling snakes & tarantulas, and coastal excursions.
Additionally, the school places a high importance on "Outdoor Education," thus we have developed a programme that enables every student to benefit from a variety of wonderful outdoor education activities.
The building of Anderson shelters, excavating WW1 trenches, lighting of stone-age campfires, and examination of shelter materials are just a few of the carefully chosen activities that connect with the in-class curriculum.
Our Key Stage 1 classrooms have been completely renovated to give some of the top learning spaces available thanks to careful budget management.
The pleasantly designed, spacious areas provide the perfect setting for both teachers and students to learn.
We are currently reviewing our computing provision and having just invested over 25,000 on new technology.
Our reading programmes now include more than 4,000 new books, giving kids the tools they need to fall in love with reading.
The School has also bought in the services of a specialist Speech and Language Therapist who works alongside our talented teaching assistant team.
There are so many other areas that have been improved: learning attitudes and developing a growth mindset culture, community involvement, communication and parental engagement, full wrap around provision and so much more!.
Two significant projects, 'TRANSFORM Maths' and 'EEF Developing Literacy in KS1/2' have drawn recognition from the local authority and our School has presented on the impact of these interventions to more than a hundred other schools.
Both Schools are very much on the right trajectory to meet the requirements as set out by OFSTED and this was very much ratified at our recent HMI OFSTED monitoring visit for our Junior School earlier in the year (the full letter is available to read on our website).
