From the Park Street Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School
In 1831, Park Street Church of England School was founded.
There aren't many data about the school's very early history, other than the fact that there were 30 girls and 40 boys enrolled when it joined the National Society in 1835.
Throughout the nineteenth century, as the school flourished, Park Street was mostly a farming settlement.
The Bishop of St. Albans inaugurated the new school building on January 6, 1900.
Children from Colney Street School were relocated to Park Street School in 1922 as the school continued to expand over the ensuing years.
Children who had been evacuated from London filled the school during the first few months of the Second World War.
The log records make numerous references to air raid warnings, and a shelter was built in the area behind the school.
A Handley Page Jetstream's fuselage served as an interesting addition to the school's classrooms in the 1970s.
