From the Oxspring Primary School
We are a small, welcoming, and energetic primary school located in a lovely semi-rural area not far from Sheffield, Leeds, and Manchester.
The school, which was originally constructed in 1880, had substantial renovations a number of years ago and now includes a sizable school hall, a contemporary Key Stage 1 building with an outdoor learning area, as well as a highly successful after-school programme.
We are very proud of our beautiful school garden which recently achieved its fourth gold award from the Royal Horticultural Society's 'Yorkshire in Bloom', as well as the best in category overall winner. (
The village of Oxspring, as well as the neighbouring communities and the neighbouring market town of Penistone, are included in the catchment area.
We have a "open door" attitude toward parents, and students are urged to fully engage in school and neighbourhood life.
Our school takes part in a variety of community activities throughout the year, including sports, choir outings to the neighbourhood church and Penistone community, musical concerts, the Harvest Festival, Christmas activities, and the annual Oxspring Duck Race in Bower Dell, to name a few.
Through our ethos, the curriculum, the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural growth of our students, as well as our "paint pallet of core principles," we promote essential British values.
The British principles of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, respect for one another, and tolerance of people of different religions and views are values we uphold and actively promote.
We have a very active student government, and students are encouraged to assume leadership and management roles wherever possible.
Our students have a significant voice, and they collaborate with the staff, parents, and governors to define future objectives and make better choices regarding their well-being, their educational opportunities, and the calibre of the teaching.
Every child should develop a love of learning that lasts a lifetime, and the objective of our school is to "be a learning community with a culture of aspiration and achievement."
