Dear website visitor from our school, Welcome to Our Lady of Dolours Catholic Primary School, we would like to say.
We are a one-and-a-half form entry school with a very positive, warm, and welcoming environment and the highest expectations for behaviour and achievement. Our students have a strong moral foundation based on Gospel values and are becoming more conscious of British values and their place in society.
In February 2018, Ofsted conducted an inspection of the school, and once again deemed it to be a "Good" school with significant strengths across the board.
Our staff and governors are deeply committed to ensuring that all children receive a broad and balanced education through our topic-based creative curriculum and robust programmes of study for all areas of the curriculum. The school and parents work well together in partnership to enable all children to achieve to their full potential (see Curriculum section of this website).
Our data clearly demonstrates how well children perform when they go to the next stage of their education, especially those coming from a variety of diverse backgrounds. We have an excellent provision map for kids who might require extra help in their learning.
Former students of the school have contacted and visited us to share their accomplishments in further education and the workforce.
Visitors to our school frequently remark on how clean, organised, and well-kept the facilities are. To ensure that our beautiful building is maintained and enhanced to the greatest degree, we have a continuing programme of building improvement works.
New lighting systems have recently been installed in Years 3 and 4, and most recently, new ceiling and lighting systems have been installed in the Nursery and Reception classes. These installations have given the classrooms a contemporary and modern appearance while preserving the traditional features.
We are still one of the few schools in London with a roof playground, which the students like using because it is now "grassed."
The roof space is now entirely utilised as a PE teaching space as a result of the construction of the overhead safety net.
The Silver Award for Healthy Schools was given to us in the spring of 2017, and we are almost qualified for the coveted Gold Award!
The regular use of computers in KS2 via the school's wifi as well as the usage of LearnPads in KS1 and the EYFS are both ways to improve learning.
Our students can enjoy the magnificent school library, which provides easy access to the grassy playground below.
The school is once again working with our parish priest Father Michael Jarmulowicz to offer the First Holy Communion event this year.
By directing families to outside services in the neighbourhood, the school aims to support the families.
Due to severe needs and at considerable cost to the school, we provide counselling services through the Catholic Children's Society and we have now commissioned the services of an Early Help Family Practitioner who has been appointed to directly support families with a particular focus on barriers to attendance, well being and supporting the early identification and access to Early Help with safeguarding issues.
As a community of faith and learning we continually strive towards providing our children and families with strong guidance and support in every day areas of life so that they may flourish in every way possible.
If you are considering joining our family and wish to apply for a place for your child, please feel free to visit or call; we are happy to offer tours and would encourage you to explore our website for information on all areas of school life at Our Lady of Dolours Catholic Primary School.
