The promotion of the "Fundamental British Values of Democracy," "The Rule of Law," "Individual Liberty and Mutual Respect," and "Tolerance of Individuals with Different Faiths and Beliefs" must be made explicit and enforced in all schools.
Our Rights Respecting Rules, which are based on the UNICEF Rights of the Child, serve as a constant reminder of these principles at Oakmere.
The school is awash in democracy.
Every kid has the "Right to a Voice" that is heard and respected, according to our school's behaviour code.
Students are instructed on the importance of laws, their justifications, how they regulate and safeguard us, the duties associated with this, and the repercussions of breaking the law.
With the knowledge that they are in a secure and encouraging atmosphere at school, students are actively encouraged to make decisions.
By offering a secure environment and an empowering education, schools educate and set limits for young students to make decisions securely.
Students are encouraged to be aware of, comprehend, and exercise their rights and liberties, and are given guidance on how to do so safely, for instance through our E-Safety and PSHE lectures.
Core Values like "Respect" have been a focal point of our school's ethos and behaviour policy, and students have participated in conversations and assemblies about what this means and how it is demonstrated.
Respect for others is emphasised through classroom and learning guidelines, our behaviour policy, and posters displayed throughout the school.
Learning in RE and PSHE has been implemented in order to assist and follow up on assemblies and discussions about prejudices and bullying that is motivated by prejudice.
