Minehead First School

Welcome to the West Somerset Academies Trust's Minehead First School. The school has created a warm, compassionate environment that students describe as "friendly, joyful, and fun." (Ofsted, November 2015). As Headteacher, working in close partnership with parents, children, governors and the staff, I strive to create a school where every child is enabled to make the absolute best start to their educational journey. Nelson Mandela once famously said: 'Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world' and for me, this is at the heart of what we are about at Minehead First School. All children can grow to their most individual potential in our nurturing, secure, intellectually and creatively challenging environment. The staff are passionate about ensuring your child's time at school is happy, productive and successful so that they can move confidently onto the next stage of their education and ultimately make a positive contribution to society as adults. We aim to raise achievement in all aspects of the curriculum, through developing self-confidence, motivation, self-reliance, creativity and co-operation in all we do.
