From the Hartford Junior School
Since September 2015, it has been an enormous honour for me to lead this outstanding school. The school has excelled in all the areas we consider to be crucial throughout that period. The simplest way to describe this is to use our motto, "work, encouragement, excellence." Hartford's whole staff and governors are aware that our efforts pay off in better outcomes. There is no greater feeling than working hard and succeeding at something. We emphasise to our students the need for them to do the same because of this. Our students understand the value of giving it their all, getting bogged down, making errors, and then learning from them. Our students are aware that if something is challenging, overcoming it will likely require resiliency and confidence. Our students are aware of the wonderful feeling that results from doing so. However, success requires more than simply effort. We want to assist our students become happy, successful learners, therefore we encourage them. This encouragement comes in numerous forms, but it all stems from a sympathetic understanding of the purpose of childhood. Teachers who are well-trained, interested in our kids as individuals, and motivated by their success are good for our kids. We have high standards for how our students behave one another and, when conflicts do occur, we apply restorative practises.
