Simply put, our location is exceptional and offers our students a secure, tranquil, yet stimulating atmosphere. Our headquarters are located in the picturesque Wealden countryside near the border of Sussex and Kent, right outside the famed village of Northiam. The school is located near a Grade 1 listed Jacobean mansion that served as the Frewen family's ancestral home for more than 300 years. Even the Art and Design block has its own Grade 2* listing, and the Preparatory School is housed in a Grade 2 listed Queen Anne farmhouse. A variety of contemporary, purpose-built facilities are added to these old structures. The oldest walled gardens in Sussex are among the designated gardens around the school, which were first created in 1681. They are open each year as part of the National Garden Scheme and for the neighbourhood hospice, and include an arboretum (including the Lady Jane Frewen bluebell path, shown below). In addition to introducing student-helped vegetable and fruit gardens, we will be creating a sensory garden, a nature trail, and a conservation area over the following two years. Our students also enjoy access to 60 acres of recreational fields and grounds outside the gardens, and we have safe access to another 100 acres of an old deer park for nature hikes, cross-country runs, and orienteering. Despite enjoying a rural setting, we are quite close to London, Gatwick Airport, and the Channel Tunnel, and Ashford International Station provides access to Eurostar services. The Dyslexia Specialist Provision school that is closest to the Continent is ours. The historic minor towns of Rye, Battle, and Tenterden are all nearby, as are the large towns of Hastings, Ashford, and Tunbridge Wells.
