This presents a chance to impart democratic principles and electoral procedures.
At all levels, we support leadership in the classroom.
PSHE classes, themes from communal worship, P4C lessons, and Let's Think lessons all work to foster democracy.
Children are involved in making decisions that affect the entire school, such as voting on our school's principles throughout the course of a term, choosing our "Levels of Behavior," deciding on incentives and punishments at school, and developing our behaviour policy.
Our behaviour policy reflects the high standards we set for student behaviour.
Our school values and our behaviour policy are directly related.
Children are taught how to gain trust and respect through our school assemblies, circle time, P4C lessons, Let's Think lessons, and PSHE lessons. Children are also assisted to develop a strong moral sense, which includes recognising right from wrong and acting morally even when it is challenging.
The local police officer or PCSO makes frequent visits to the school to speak with the kids and explain how important their role is in society.
The local magistrates engage with our students in Key Stage 2 every year to teach them about the rule of law and how it protects you.
Personal Liberty Relationships to Core Values: Love and Equality All children have the right to unwind, play, and take part in a variety of activities, according to UN CRC Article 31.
Children are taught about personal responsibility, choices, ambition, and aspiration through our school's principles and the PSHE programme.
Children are instructed in personal safety techniques, including e-safety.
As part of our study of "The Final Frontier," we also look at problems related to gender equality, such as whether Ernest Shackleton's original advertisement is still appropriate today.
Mutual Regard Love, equality, and integrity are related to school ideals. UN CRC Article 2: The Convention is applicable to everyone, regardless of their race, religion, ability, opinions, or family background.
UN CRC Article 30: Regardless of whether the language and traditions of their family are shared by the majority of the population or not, children have the right to study and use them.
Our behaviour policy and single equality policy both reflect our high standards for student behaviour.
Children are taught to appreciate one another and those with different thoughts and beliefs through our school's principles, PSHE, P4C, and Let's Think classes.
Children are taught to work together and cooperate, to support one another, to find commonalities while appreciating differences.
Our peer mentors encourage peaceful conflict resolution and teach our younger students how to play cooperatively with one another.
The school has specific focussed weeks which address aspects of mutual respect, for example, our Equalities week, children learnt about stereotyping, and the value of Fair Trade in this context.
Our Young Interpreters welcome new students to our school and spread the message that diversity enhances our community.
Through our collective worship programme, we also encourage respect for one another.
