From the Essendon CofE (VC) Primary School
the school's ethos, which is founded on fundamental Christian principles and contributes to its status as an inclusive, tolerant, friendly institution;
We developed the strapline "Caring and Learning Together" after the hard effort of the entire school community to summarise what makes our school unique back in the fall of 2016.
Staff and governors have thought about how to continue to produce a comprehensive and balanced curriculum for our students that is engaging and promotes the five essential criteria we have identified to be the most important for our students after being motivated and reflecting on our ethos, values, and vision. "This school's strong Christian ethos fosters in students a positive outlook and encourages them to become self-assured learners eager to do their best work,"
SIAMS 2015.
All members of the school community, both adults and children, are urged to live out the Christian values, which include Love, Joy, Respect, Hope, Peace, and Forgiveness. Pupils are taught the significance of these virtues.
As a result, the atmosphere at school and at work is kind and encouraging.
We collaborate closely with St. Mary the Virgin Church and regularly visit the building, whether for a service at the end of the semester or for additional educational opportunities all year long.
On April 20, 2018, we bid Rev. Pauline Higham a painful farewell.
We are happy to welcome Rev. Theresa as the new incumbent. We look forward to working closely with her over the ensuing months and years.
Students are nice, considerate, and helpful with their time and assistance.
2017 Ofsted
You have made sure that students have access to a broad and balanced curriculum, including opportunities to learn about the outside world through daily discussions about current events. Pupils are given opportunities to reflect on our school values and to worship either as a whole school or in their classroom.
The students I met with had thoughtful responses on how they participated in school democracy.
Students discussed the prestige of campaigning for positions on the student council and being elected as team captains and vice captains.
