Overly thorough task preparation and support do not impede the growth of students who write with strong fluency and independence.
The primary focus of the school reform plan was on raising academic standards.
In order to deepen their comprehension and extend their learning, students were encouraged through more targeted questioning.
All students were urged to expand their oral communication abilities beyond class discussions.
The level of challenge for students with better achievement was more consistently maintained.
These priorities have been the subject of targeted training, which is also one of the goals of our performance management review.
The introduction of a Growth Mindset ethos and 'Learning without Limits' philosophy, underpinned by Kagan structures and 'Chilli Pepper' challenges, has enabled our children to become more resilient, confident learners: indeed our Collaborative Learning philosophy was recognised as an Area of Excellence in our Challenge Partnesr review (April 2017).
Our commitment to our four teaching school alliances, ensure we are outward looking (TTSA, NETS, Coast2Coast and Wroxham) We continue our membership of Challenge Partners, part of the 'Tendring Coast Hub' led by Tendring Technology College (TTC) and alongside primary schools in the Tendring Education Improvement Group (TEIG).
We collaborate with Thames SCITT, Tendring SCITT, and Goldsmiths, three teacher training institutions.
We place a high value on helping prospective teachers, which is why our headteacher participates in recruitment and provides training to Tendring SCITT on a regular basis.
Our Headteacher serves as a director on the board of the Mid-Tendring Education Partnership (MTEP), which enables us to offer a variety of supports for our vulnerable families.
Our nursery joined the school in January 2017 as a brand-new section.
For the second time, the Healthy Schools Award has been received.
Additionally, the school received the Attachment Aware School Award in recognition of the fact that staff members have undergone training and consider students' emotional wellbeing.
Our web-site further strengthens our community links and helps us fully meet the demands of a modern, forward-thinking school, where communication is key to keeping all our communities updated.
As our children, families and visitors enter our school, they can see our mission statement of 'Achieving Great Things Together', which is our core belief.
