From the Elstow School
In March 2004, Elstow Lower School moved into brand-new, purpose-built facilities. The school changed its name to Elstow School in September 2013 and was designated as a primary school. The Year 4 students became the first Year 5 cohort, and the first Year 6 cohort joined the school as a full Primary School in September 2014. To accommodate the school's new primary status and to provide classrooms and enough space, a new teaching block and hall were finished in the summer of 2013. The school is located in the middle of a brand-new housing neighbourhood. The school enrollment matches the combination of big owner-occupied detached houses and Housing Association social housing seen in this housing development. Most of our kids reside on the Abbeyfields estate or in the vicinity of Mile Road and Elstow Road. There are a lot of kids who live outside of our catchment region. All of the structures are on the ground floor, and one of the teaching buildings is constructed in the shape of an eight around two interior courtyards. We provide separate outside play areas for younger and older kids in addition to a sizable tarmac play area with playground equipment. We also enjoy a large playing field and an area for adventure play offering opportunities for scrambling, clambering and climbing on wooden 'Playdale' equipment and for the elder pupils a 'Rap' adventure frame.
