Every member of our school's learning community—students, staff, parents, and governors—has contributed to the development of its vision and ethos. We have defined five fundamental intellectual qualities at DGSB that we all hope to hone. Our students will graduate from high school as independent, resilient, and self-assured young adults who have high aspirations for themselves and who approach all they do with a critical mindset. These intellectual qualities will guarantee that our students thrive not only in the classroom, earning credentials that open doors to any industry they choose, but also in their life beyond graduation. Additionally, we demand that everyone in our community—adults and students—behave with responsibility and humility, with empathy and respect for others, and with integrity at all times. These principles guarantee that our school is a joyful, kind, and orderly community that respects all people and individuality. Through their academic work and the wide range of enriching extracurricular activities they engage in, we aim to excite and challenge the brains of our students. We are creating a technologically advanced learning environment so that our students learn how to deal with the constantly shifting demands of employers as well as how to engage securely and ethically in online communities. We make sure that our curriculum is always changing to reflect the world in which we live and to give students the chance to interact with the larger local community through volunteer work, work placements, and group projects. Every member of the DGSB community should take pride in their school and the unique role they each play in contributing to its extensive and amazing history.
