From the Derry Hill Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School
In 1842, Derry Hill School was established.
Since that time, it has received Aided status under the 1944 Education Act, allowing it to uphold its basic Church of England foundation while adapting to new conditions.
The Church of England is represented by the majority of the governors.
Aided status enables the governors to appoint the personnel (whose educational backgrounds are subject to the LA), thereby guaranteeing that every member of the staff upholds the tenets of a Church school.
These are expressed not only in the religious instruction and regular worship, but also in the aim for Christian ideals to permeate all element of school life and to be supported by the involvement and example of the nearby Parish Church.
The Christian community is privileged to help many local kids further their education in this way.
Everyone will give of their very best in the love of God, which is the school's vision, reflects our goal to provide children with a challenging, creative curriculum, seeking the highest standards and creating a stimulating and secure learning environment, embracing Christian understanding of everyone's needs and differences, accomplished through effective communication and leadership.
Derry Hill, in our opinion, provides amazing amenities and a lovely setting for kids. The buildings there range in age from the earliest, constructed in or around 1850, to the most recent, finished in 1998/9.
