Education Vision We are a modest, open-minded Church of England primary school that values diversity and promotes listening to all viewpoints.
We encourage the future optimism and change-making abilities of the entire school community.
School Goal Our school wants to inspire kids to go above and beyond their potential.
British values are being promoted at Cowbit St. Mary's Church of England School.
The basic British principles of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and respect for people of all religions and beliefs must be promoted in all schools, according to the DfE, which has lately reaffirmed the need for doing so.
Democracy Each year, as part of Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL), the kids choose the rules for their class and the rights and duties attached to them.
Each class develops a Charter that contains a unique set of regulations that everyone agrees upon.
Every year, the kids fill out a Pupil Perception Survey, and at the end of their last term with us, the Y6 graduates do an Exit Survey.
By participating in interviews with potential employees, the kids are active in the hiring process.
Our proposal for Collective Worship for the entire school includes a section on democracy.
There is a Behaviour and Anti-Bullying Policy in place with agreed-upon rewards and consequences.
The law is supreme From an early age, kids are taught that everyone in this country is bound by the laws that are in place.
Throughout the regular school day, as well as when dealing with behaviour and during school communal worship times, the value of laws as they apply to the school or the country is continually emphasised.
They are aware of their obligation to uphold the law and are aware of the repercussions of doing so.
From a young age, children are taught the school's rules, their importance and justifications, the duties they entail, and the repercussions if they are broken.
For following the rules and behaving well, certificates and stickers are given as rewards.
Collective Worship offers opportunities all year round to connect to the law, such as school regulations and anti-bullying.
The kids are encouraged to voice and defend their beliefs.
The children can listen and exercise their right to express their thoughts thanks to regular circle time, Philosophy for Children, and e-safety awareness raising.
There are a variety of everyday after-school programmes available, and the kids are free to choose which ones they want to participate in.
Children are also given the chance to take part in community activities or events with other schools, such as a wide range of sporting events.
Children show a thorough awareness of expected behaviour both within and outside of the school.
Each term, Cowbit St. Mary's School selects a different theme for Collective: Christian Values.
Mutual Regard Our ideals are based on respect.
Children learn about respect and tolerance for one another.
Everyone in the school community is respectful of one another.
All throughout the year, SEAL themes help to educate our kids about the need of respecting others and their property.
Respect is encouraged through classroom regulations, the school's code of conduct, and regular reminders during Circle Times and Collective Worship.
Children can learn about religion and how beliefs affect daily life in Religious Education classes that take place throughout the school. In addition to gaining knowledge about religion, children can also acquire an understanding of it.
This fosters tolerance and respect for many religious perspectives.
