From the Courtauld Institute of Art
An outreach programme called Art History for All is offered in-person in your classroom and is intended for colleges and universities outside of London.
With its own internationally renowned art collection and unparalleled study tools, the Courtauld Institute of Art is the top institution in the world for the study of art history and conservation.
Our workshops encompass critical thinking, art historical methodology, contextual research and presenting skills, professions after art history, and a mini curating project based on a gallery visit nearby. They aim to introduce students to the interesting prospects around art history.
Where possible, we also encourage and support taking students to a local museum, historical site, or gallery to further their expertise with visual analysis and their capacity to learn from actual items.
Free of charge for sixth forms, community colleges, and non-selective state schools.
Workshops add to and enhance the subjects of art, design, and humanities curricula. They are particularly helpful in fostering the development of knowledge and abilities that are highly transferable, such as visual literacy, knowledge, research and presentation skills, and self-assurance for the critical and contextual component of the A-level, BTEC, Access to HE, and EPQ in art and design.
Challenging Narratives, Portraiture and Identity, The Body in Art, Society and Politics, Research and Study Skills are just a few examples of subjects that have been taken from The Courtauld Gallery's collection.
To facilitate follow-up activities, teachers will receive a physical copy of The Courtauld's specialised Learning Resources.
