We have every right to be proud of being a truly comprehensive school with strong academic achievement that serves a sizable catchment area in Cumbria's northwest. Popular and well-liked, our school values its position at the centre of the neighbourhood. We are happy to have students from Cockermouth, the nearby areas, as well as increasingly from farther away. While we should be pleased of our students' academic accomplishments, we also realise that school is about much more than what happens in the classroom. We measure our success by what is achieved both inside and outside of lessons and the wide range of opportunities that life at Cockermouth School offers, be it academically, musically, on the sports field or on trips or visits, enables us to develop the full range of our students' talents. Our pastoral team is committed to assisting each student in reaching their full potential while they are enrolled. Our students receive a high degree of guidance and assistance, which complements the specialised instruction that is essential for academic achievement.
