The 75 square mile Ellesmere Port and Chester Rural Area included the area. A new secondary modern and technical school was envisioned for Christleton in the 1950s. In October 1958, Christleton County Secondary Modern School was formally inaugurated. At the time, it was Cheshire's 57th completed brand-new school to open. For the purpose of fostering a sense of group identification, cohesion, and team spirit, staff and students were divided into four houses. Former Headteacher Phil Hodges created the initial school crest.
