Student Premium Schools receive cash through the Pupil Premium programme to support students who may be at risk of academic underachievement. The amount given depends on how many children qualify for free school meals; this excludes infants who are also eligible for universal free school meals unless they also meet the pupil premium requirements. Children who have been continually cared for for more than six months and the children of service members are also covered by the Pupil Premium. We are allowed to utilise Pupil Premium however we see fit, in accordance with our understanding of the needs of our students, thanks to the DfE. We are responsible for how this increased funding is used, though. Currently, our policy is to pay for clubs, school outings, and school-led enrichment programmes; private music lessons taken at the school are not included in this. Parents of children eligible for the pupil premium will be requested to contribute financially to school visits starting in September 2017.
