Foundational Skills: In Reception, children learn to extend their speaking to full sentences, read, form letters, and write words and sentences very well.
Success of the Curriculum: The reworking of history and geography curriculums is having a positive impact, but some subjects still need detailed curriculum design.
Areas Needing Improvement: Some subject curriculums lack necessary knowledge for pupils, particularly in English, art, and design technology.
Performance in Maths & Reading: A minority of pupils have gaps in their phonics knowledge, and some fall behind in writing development.
Support for Falling Behind: When pupils get stuck in mathematics, they do not always receive help swiftly, which hinders learning.
Behaviour and Attitudes: Incidents of poor behaviour in class are lessening markedly, but some pupils still go off task when finishing work early.
Support for SEND Pupils: Teaching for SEND pupils is not always precise enough; some pupils' targets are not up to date.
Promotion of Welfare and Safety: The school provides effective systems to challenge poor attendance, resulting in minimal persistent absence.
Managing Bullying and Pupil Safety: Pupils learn how to make decisions about personal safety, including online, but the school does not have sufficient oversight of behaviour incidents at social times.
Parent Feedback: You can use Ofsted Parent View to give your opinion on your child’s school.
Parental Involvement: There are many opportunities to work with the local community and beyond, such as performing poems and raising money for charities.
Extracurricular Activities: Dedicated staff offer a variety of clubs, such as woodworking or running.
Teacher Engagement: Staff build strong relationships with children in the early years and track pupils' progress over time.
Impact on Student Progress: Teaching does not always address gaps in knowledge or misconceptions sufficiently well.
Teaching Staff Challenges: There is not enough oversight of the implementation of the curriculum and school-wide policies.
Assessment of Teaching Quality: Governors ensure that the school reviews pupils’ education, health, and care plans on time.

High levels of self-esteem and a lifetime love of learning are encouraged at Broadwindsor Church of England V.C. Primary School, which strives to provide the greatest learning environment possible. The first Broadwindsor School was founded in 1835, and in 1968 it relocated to its current location. It is a single-story structure located in a prominent area of the picturesque Dorset village of Broadwindsor. The school contains a music room, a specialised First Aid room, a school hall, a library, kitchen facilities, and four classrooms. It has resources in all curriculum areas. All of our kids can play on grass or a hard play area on the school grounds, depending on the weather. A natural creek and an outdoor seating area beneath the trees are two of the environmental elements. Different techniques are used by each class to support curriculum work outside. Children and parents are welcomed from 8.30 a.m. till the start of school. The kids can choose from a number of activities during playtime, including enormous play equipment, ball games, and outdoor games like large draughts and skipping. Sports leaders enjoy games with kids during downtime. A cheerful village school, Broadwindsor School has high standards for both its students and staff. We think that every kid has the right to a rich and comprehensive curriculum that carefully considers their requirements in terms of social, emotional, and moral development. We understand the importance of a child's holistic development and comprehensive education.
