Our school was constructed in the conventional Victorian style in 1875 and has been kept up properly. Although it was never endowed and was originally recognised as a Church School, it is currently a part of the Keswick Multi Academy Trust and is funded directly by the DFE. 32 pupils were enrolled as of September 2019, along with one full-time teacher (including the headteacher), two part-time teachers, and two part-time teaching assistants. The former Victorian classroom has been partitioned into two halves to give separate space for the two Key Stages. In September 2014, Ducklings Nursery made use of a brand-new classroom with a conservatory-style roof and stunning views of Skiddaw. Each classroom features an I.C.T. bay as well as a well-equipped area for arts, crafts, and technology. A second, smaller room that leads off is utilised as a quiet workspace. The school has sufficient resources to fulfil the National Curriculum's standards for core and foundational disciplines. The school is located within a large playground that has been artistically demarcated for extracurricular activities and outdoor athletic events. A set external play system exists to promote challenge and exploration. The outdoors offers inspiration for role playing and creative thinking. The children's outdoor curriculum benefits from having a classroom outside.

Bassenthwaite Primary School Reviews

Bassenthwaite primary school is a beautiful, charming rural school with small classes and plenty of opportunities. My children have attended from age 3 when they joined the school nursery which was the best way for them to transition into school life. The classes are small so age groups are mixed which gives the children so many benefits of growing up confident and around a mixture of people. The teachers are friendly and caring and know...
