Our school council meets frequently to consider matters brought up. The school can actually alter thanks to the council. Each student is elected by their class to serve on the school council. Children can express their opinions about the school on an annual questionnaire as well. PSHE integrates lessons on democracy into all of its cross-curricular units and classroom activities. At St. George's, students are constantly reminded of the value of laws, whether they apply to the class, the school, or the nation. The school's rules are taught to students starting in Little Dragons Preschool. These are the rules that apply to our classroom, playground, and school. Students are taught the importance of laws and rules, why they control and protect us, what it means to follow the law, and what happens when it is broken. Visits from law enforcement and the fire service serve to reinforce this message. They are also discussed with the student heads of school and during sessions of the school council. With the knowledge that they are in a secure and encouraging atmosphere, St. George's students are actively encouraged to make decisions. Through a safe environment and an empowering education, we as a school educate and set boundaries for young students to make knowledgeable decisions. Through classes and workshops on e-safety, cross-curricular personal, social, and health education (PSHE), and other activities, students are encouraged to know, appreciate, and exercise their rights and personal freedoms. They are also given advice on how to do so securely. Our principles are based on respect for one another. The impact of their actions on both their own and other people's rights is something that children learn. Everyone associated with the school is expected to respect one another.
