The mayor of AltonTown dedicates Amery Hill School's new dining hall. Amery Hill School is excited to announce that its brand-new dining hall and kitchen facilities are now open for business.
They will be able to provide a growing number of students nutritious meals thanks to the new structure.
In addition to offering dining facilities, the area has been built to be multi-functional, with flexible lighting, an installed projection and sound system, and floor-to-ceiling windows making up a lot of the outside walls.
The Department of Education's Healthy Pupils Capital Fund provided a sizeable percentage of the cash since they understood how the school's application was founded on its idea of developing the whole child.
By enabling students to use mealtimes as a moment to share, be social, and quietly digest food, the new eating facilities will contribute to improving both their physical and emotional welfare.
The school has thought about how to promote sustainability and decrease plastic waste as part of the construction process.
Mr. Jon Eacott, Assistant Headteacher and Project Lead, commented on this aspect of the project: "With increased capacity, students' main meals are served on reusable crockery, significantly reducing the dependence upon disposable items." Solar panels have been installed on the main school building's roof to help provide power for the new building.
Amery Hill's ambitious building programme, which will over the coming years witness the establishment of a multi-functional performance venue, featuring a new auditorium as well as Drama and Dance studios, has reached its first phase's completion with the opening of the Dining Hall and Kitchen.
