From the Al Islah Girls' High School
The Al Islah Girls' High School ethos is firmly based on interpersonal connections and a deep belief that each and every individual is the school's central figure. What distinguishes Al Islah Girls' High School from other institutions is a question we get asked frequently. The key, in my opinion, is our shared values, a laid-back yet lively environment where the individual is paramount and laughing is a necessary component of daily life. At the same time, our strategy strongly emphasises collaboration. We believe in setting a good example, having a healthy dose of flexibility, the healing power of humour, and the goodness of people. Words like "enthusiasm," "maturity," and "kindness" commonly appear in visitors' observations of the institution. This school is an environment which gives people staff as much as students the space to be themselves and the encouragement and stimulus to grow, to learn, to engage with complexity and to achieve their goals, while also making time for friendship, for laughter and for living life to the full. We have boundaries, much like every school, but we encourage kids to push them for learning and consider them for themselves. We make sure they are heard while also encouraging them to pay attention. The school's success in achieving these goals is evident in our exam results, in students' accomplishments in extracurricular activities, and in the enthusiastic support we receive from current and former parents and students. Academic achievement and personal growth are at the centre of what we aim to achieve.
