From the Addey and Stanhope School
The Addey and Stanhope School was created through the union of two institutions.
The Addey School was established in 1821, and The Stanhope School in 1715.
The Stanhope School closed after the 1870 Education Act, when the government assumed control of basic education, and its governors made the decision to utilise the money to send a few students to other schools.
The governors of the Addey School determined in 1891 that their institution was no longer required, and the two sets of governors decided to collaborate in 1894 to establish the Addey and Stanhope School for Art and Science.
In 1900, the school relocated to its current location.
Since Addey and Stanhope is a voluntary aided institution, the Governors are also the legal owners of the property and employers of the personnel.
Building on this lengthy and illustrious past, the school now concentrates on the current needs of the neighbourhood.
give students the knowledge and abilities they need to maximise their employment options.
Every year, on Founders' Day, the entire school community gets together to remember and honour both our past and present accomplishments.
Its school has been in existence for nearly 300 years, and we are proud of our lengthy past.
Every year on the Founders' Day evening, generations of Addeyans gather to reconnect with old friends, develop new ones, and network with current faculty and students.
