Please make sure that passive mode is selected in your FTP programme. This is frequently found in the connection dialogue box or preferences. Once connected, a web folder will appear; any files placed in this folder will be web-accessible. Please only upload files outside the web folder if you want your scripts to have access to them and no one else. Don't forget that your server expects to discover a page named index.htm or index.html as the first page (or index.php, index.asp, index.cgi etc. for dynamic sites).
