In prepared environments like those seen in Montessori classrooms, kids are free to follow their innate drive to work.
The prepared environment provides the necessary components for the best possible development. The children, Montessori teachers, and physical environment, including the specially created Montessori teaching materials, make up the essential elements.
Within reasonable constraints that allow them to function as members of a social group, children are given the freedom to work and roam around.
Children are given specially created materials that address the seven learning domains covered in the updated Early Years Foundation Stage Development Matters 2012, allowing them to explore their surroundings both indoors and outdoors and grow as individuals, including in terms of their emotional and physical health.
The prepared setting gives kids the chance to take charge of their own education (under the direction of the Montessori team), providing them the chance to develop into people who can work independently and therefore interdependently.
