The Wayz Day Camps

The Wayz was established on February 16th, 1966, as a specifically designed youth centre to provide opportunities and activities to individuals in the surrounding neighbourhoods.
These young people, who come from the neighbourhood and farther afield, have come to participate in recreational activities and to try new things. They are also a part of a process that aims to help each young person grow in light of their unique needs and desires.
The Wayz continues to be centred on empowering and enabling young people to engage in and take ownership of a variety of duties.
The young people have helped choose subjects and develop a programme that helps address difficulties while also providing opportunity for young people to come and have fun through activities and informal talks.
The young people have been able to identify their own needs via talks they have had individually or in groups, as well as how those discussions have affected the community and the centre.
In addition, showcasing the opportunities that The Wayz and its young people may give to other young people and community stakeholders.
Young people have interests, thus it is the staff's job to encourage them to pursue their interests in a way that will benefit them and the group as a whole.
The Wayz continues to work in partnerships, connecting and collaborating with many organisations to build trust and enhance the development services provided to young people.
The Wayz has made a name for itself in the neighbourhood as a facility that can deal with children in a secure and constructive way.
Some of these young people have been inspired to participate and have once more seized the chance to participate in volunteer initiatives and take charge of the session. They are now frequent visitors to the centre.
Healthy habits, good hygiene, sexual health, employability, life skills, drug and alcohol knowledge, self-esteem and confidence, volunteering, and leadership are a few of these.
