In our everyday curriculum at Phoenix Kindergarten, we strive to include and apply British Values.
Our Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, as well as the work we perform on a daily basis, we believe already implicitly uphold the core British values of democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, respect for one another, and tolerance for people of all religions and views.
We are fortunate that families from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds enrol in Steiner Waldorf kindergartens.
Here are some examples of how our curriculum incorporates British ideals.
Phoenix Kindergarten helps the kids learn the behaviour required of them by modelling it for them and by providing each kid with constant, loving support throughout the day.
Impersonation's value in the classroom is highly valued in the Steiner pedagogy.
Staff and committee members constantly strive to model suitable and acceptable behaviour for the kids by modelling good behaviour themselves.
We provide definite behavioural guidelines with reasonable consequences rather than punishment, keeping in mind each child's needs.
The kindergarten teacher teaches the kids about right and wrong, good and evil, justice and redemption, and the golden rule via stories.
Building a solid sense of social responsibility, a caring and tolerant attitude on life, and the ability to perceive the good in people are all goals of our work.
We work with the kids to help them grow a good self-concept, self-awareness, self-esteem, and confidence in their own skills, preparing them to be self-reliant in the future.
This comes about as a result of developing relationships with each child and their ability to trust us, feel at ease sharing their news with us, and communicate their needs to staff members.
The children have the flexibility to choose their own activities within the daily rhythm, play, and to say no, which is regarded as a genuine perspective.
Each child is supported and urged to form friendships with other kids and to settle disputes amicably among themselves.
Our belief system is based on the values of tolerance and respect for one another.
By co-planning and participating in festivals, we hope to honour the various cultures that make up our neighbourhood.
Through the exchange of customs, tales, and music, festivals give us all insightful peeks into other civilizations.
By having the kids help clean and tidy up the kindergarten, we show our concern for the environment.
