The NHS Food Scanner app was created by the government as part of the Better Health project. Families can use the app to make better food and beverage choices. To examine what's inside a food or drink, find its barcode and scan it using the app (e.g. the amount of sugar cubes). The programme also makes suggestions for healthier substitutions.
It is currently free to download from Google Play and the Apple App Store.
You may be eligible to receive assistance for the purchase of nutritious food and milk if you are over 10 weeks pregnant or have a child under 4. This system now employs a prepaid card and is paperless. For further details and to find out if you qualify, click the link.
