Over 40,000 children, young people, and families receive services from the YMCA Fairthorne Group, a local community organisation, across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Built on a social enterprise model, we invest 100% of the money we make back into supporting local projects and activities that benefit the community, like our well-known annual Young Carers Festival and assisted housing for vulnerable 16 to 25-year-olds.
Our goal is to be a pioneer in altering communities so that all kids, teens, and families may feel like they belong, can contribute, and can prosper. Our employees and trustees are currently working toward a challenging 10-year goal of quality growth that is sustained and sustainable, as described in our Strategic Plan, which is inspired by our idea of working the YMCA Way.
The YMCA has developed from its modest beginnings in the City of London in 1844 to become a global organisation with 45 million members in 125 countries.
The YMCA works with young people of all racial, religious, and cultural backgrounds in response to the needs of today's youth. Each YMCA now functions on a local level, providing services that adhere to the larger organization's beliefs and goals while meeting the requirements of the local community.
