Oakengates United Church Pre-school

One of several pre-existing rural settlements that have been swallowed by the ongoing growth in the area is Oakengates, an urban hamlet in Telford. The Methodist and United Reformed local churches united to establish Oakengates United Church, a Local Ecumenical Partnership (LEP). We gather at a facility that was designed specifically for our use and was dedicated in 1981 by the Rev. Fred Kaan, a well-known hymn writer, and the Rev. Nigel Gilson, a future Methodist Conference president. The Church is located right in the centre of the neighbourhood it serves, near to the bus and train stops, neighbourhood stores, and the theatre The Place. There is plenty of free public parking close by, however the church only has a small parking lot. The structure is wheelchair accessible and has services for the disabled. The church in the centre of Oakengates serves the neighbourhood, according to its mission statement.
