Mini Champions

After a Sunday service at St. Michael's church in the winter of 2013, the concept for an after-school club was initially proposed. Father James, the then-vicar, and Shawn Phillips, the founder of Mini Champions, had a conversation about Shawn's past employment history and his future goals after the service. Shawn revealed that despite spending the previous six years working for professional training firms, Shawn's true calling was working with kids. He continued by expressing his goal to one day open his own nurseries and after-school programmes. Both places place a lot of emphasis on providing high-quality care as well as a welcoming environment for kids. The explanation by the vicar that the church held similar ideas for such assistance in the neighbourhood that came after this announcement was truly astonishing.
Even though the initial discussion was only a casual exchange, it eventually established the foundation for where we are now.
Mini Champions began offering an after-school programme at Childeric Primary School in January 2018 with the sole purpose of serving Childeric students. Being in New Cross has unique significance because the founder was raised there and completed his secondary education within a short distance from Childeric.
