Welcome to Stansted Mountfitchet's historic Magna Carta Primary Academy. Our name means a lot to us. The Magna Carta has influenced political systems all around the world since it was ratified in Runnymede in 1215. Magna Carta promotes justice and equality. It represents rights and obligations, which is a lot to live up to. With the help of our curriculum, we uphold it. The curriculum is made up of everything we say to students, parents, or other staff members as well as everything we teach, whether formally or informally. Our curriculum encourages in-depth learning and is filled with knowledge. To make important judgements regarding what we teach and what we do not teach, we collaborate closely with curriculum directors across BMAT. This is so because teaching and learning are completely distinct things. It cannot be assumed that students will learn more than the bare minimum if a teacher teaches a unit of study on the Tudors. However, if a teacher builds new learning onto prior learning, and gives pupils the time and space to practise using their knowledge, there is more chance that those pupils will actually remember it for life. Only if we thoroughly instruct on core knowledge will this be achievable. Long-term memory has changed as a result of learning. Learning cannot occur if long-term memory does not alter. Please read more about our curriculum on the curriculum pages of our website.
