The Little Engines Day Nursery School, SE25, opened its doors in January 2004 and is located in a South Norwood residential neighbourhood. The nursery is adjacent to the Norwood Junction train station, the neighbourhood park, the library, and several stores that the kids enjoy.
When the facility reopened in January 2011 after an exciting and substantial renovation programme that began in April 2010, we increased the number of kids we served from 11 to 31.
The two-story Little Engines Nursery is licenced to care for kids from birth to eight years old.
collaborating closely with parents/caregivers to guarantee that every kid receives consistent care and education.
For young children who need first-hand experiences to experiment, learn, understand concepts, and acquire new skills, play is a fantastic learning tool.
The tools, experiences, and activities we provide for children to partake in—and, most crucially, the adults who assist them—encourage them to learn.
Staff may take into account each child's interests and requirements when preparing future activities and experiences that are suitable for each of them thanks to careful planning, observation, and record-keeping.
Staff members frequently review these data with parents and other caregivers to help them learn about their children's experience at the nursery and to share ideas and information.
Children must have strong self-esteem in order to learn, thus many play opportunities are provided to help each kid gain confidence and the ability to express his or her needs, wants, likes, dislikes, and feelings.
As early childhood educators, the children and their best interests are our first concern for every element of the nursery day, and our curriculum actively encourages learning through play.
The Early Years Foundation Stage framework serves as the foundation for planning.
All of the planning is totally flexible and may be altered as and when necessary to accommodate impromptu learning and the unique ideas, interests, and requirements of the children since we understand that taking advantage of these chances is essential to their overall development.
Since we don't have a garden area, we explore the outdoors by using natural elements like sand, water, soil, and leaves as well as activities that are frequently done outside, including wheeled toys, climbing, bouncing, balancing, and making big physical motions.
We also regularly take advantage of the amenities offered by our neighbourhood, including the park, stores, and library.
Our short-term plan was made with a lot of flexibility to accommodate children's interests and unforeseen situations while still ensuring targeted learning objectives.
Our long term plan supports the activities and experiences we provide, incorporates a range of festivals and celebrations, guides the children in our care to develop to their full potential during their time with us and prepares them for further learning as they make the transition to new settings such as school.
Because nurseries don't have a catchment area like schools do, parents can choose where their children are cared for according to their preferences or for convenience.
In keeping with the preferences of our parents, the nursery is filled with kids from South Norwood, SE25, Crystal Palace, Woodside, Thornton Heath, and the surrounding areas.
