To ensure that students graduate from school ready for life in contemporary Britain, we aggressively promote British values in schools in accordance with The Department for Education.
The school is a democratic institution.
These are routinely scheduled and centre on student voice, debate, and voting on matters affecting the entire school, such as the mission statement, rules, and behaviour code, as well as which charities to support as part of the school's charitable activity.
All during the school day, students are often reminded of the value of laws and regulations, whether they be those that regulate the class, the school, or the nation.
Students are taught the importance of laws and rules, why they are in place to govern and protect us, what obligations come with this, and what happens when laws are broken.
This is incorporated into the SMSC curriculum and behaviour management at all levels.
Fairness, sharing, and making the appropriate decisions in accordance with the regulations of the environment and the ideals of good citizenship are stressed.
Our curriculum and school's mission both place a strong emphasis on student autonomy and personal preference.
With the knowledge that they are in a secure and encouraging atmosphere at school, students are actively encouraged to make decisions.
Students are advised on how to use their rights and personal freedoms safely, for instance through our E-Safety and PSHE/RSHE 2020/21 curriculum. Students are encouraged to know, understand, and exercise their rights and personal freedoms.
Our daily star of the day and hidden student in each class provide each child the opportunity to be complimented and celebrated by their classmates, and our PSED/new RSHE curriculum supports this.
