From the Lime House School
Lime House School was founded in 1899 and has enjoyed the beautiful grounds of its present location near Carlisle since 1946. It genuinely offers the best of both worlds, a rural environment with ease of access to the city centre, areas of outstanding natural beauty and good transport links to the UK's major airports.

I like to think that Lime House School offers a combination of historical culture and 21st Century learning for the benefit of our students and staff. Here we all grow together, and we are fortunate to do so in this most beautiful and supportive environment.

Our values of excellence, integrity and compassion are there for all to see through our daily interactions and commitment to one another.

We consider the well being and personal development of all students is as important as their academic progress and achievement. So too is their safety and health to ensure they are fully confident and trusting in what the school offers them in this vital time of their life.

The school has two very important mantras:

The 3 R’s, Respect, rights and responsibilities

ICE, integrity, compassion and excellence

Each day we explore the real meaning of these words and how they are important in everyday life and in the personal development of us all.

The school ensures there are opportunities to develop skills of team building, leadership, empathy and, crucially, kindness and respect for others.

Cultural exchanges with other schools abroad help enormously with giving students a wider perspective on the values, standards and expectations in other countries. The cliché, ‘Education changes the World’ is true of course, but it is the people who have to fully endorse and put this education into operation, for changes to really become embedded in the minds and souls of everyone. Lime House school is eager to expand its cultural exchanges and very much looks forward to this new partnership.

Recently we have also been reflecting on ‘British Values’ which as an international school is important for us all to understand as we are living, working and learning in the UK. During our reflections we keep coming back to our two mantras, mentioned earlier and how to ensure they are firmly established in our daily learning.

In summary, LHS strives for excellence each and every day through the vocational endeavours of all its staff and students.
