For up to 57 secondary-aged kids who have struggled in mainstream and perhaps other special education settings, the Lewis Charlton Learning Center strives to offer a special blend of therapeutic teaching and care.
Students who are referred to Lewis Charlton because of their social, emotional, or mental health concerns are admitted.
According to Lewis Charlton, building an effective education and care programme for the young person depends on excellent communication with the parent(s) or caregiver(s).
Our keyworker system supports the social and emotional growth of the child in the context of the family and school, thereby promoting student well-being.
Home visits are a part of our school holiday assistance. Contact with parents and/or carers during the school year is done via letter, email, and/or phone call.
To encourage a more thoughtful and responsible approach to learning and socialisation, behavioural incentives are applied.
Individualized integrative psychotherapy, art therapy, speech and language therapy, and relaxation sessions are still offered.
The accommodations on the bottom floor have been modified to accommodate staff members and students who are disabled.
All other staff members have received safeguarding training, and we presently have six Designated Safeguarding Leads in charge of protecting children.
The staff to kid ratio is at least 1:2 and frequently 1:1.
At Lewis Charlton Learning Centre, Enrichment Week 2019 runs from Monday, October 14, to Friday, October 18, and is a crucial component of our students' education.
