The LOPC will be financially cost-neutral by successfully delivering demanding but safe activities to a variety of Center users, setting and meeting annual cost-neutral budgets while appealing for capital funds to support continuous developments of facilities and activities.
There is then a void between 1934 and 1965, the latter year the former Belgrave Boat House (seen to the right) was sold to the Leicester Youth Service to serve as an outdoor pursuits centre.
The OPC developed over the following few years into a Center of Excellence, drawing visitors from all over the nation to train and be evaluated for National Governing Body Awards.
The Leicestershire Canoe and Outdoor Pursuits Club, which was founded in 1991 as a result of the merger of the Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Club and the Leicestershire Canoe Club, changed its name to Paddleplus, the canoe club headquartered at LOPC, in April 2001.
The decision to completely shut down the OPC was made in March 1993 after that.
