Along the southwestern shores of Lake Windermere, tucked away within 400 acres of private woodland, is the YMCA National Centre, Lakeside.
We have been a centre of excellence for outdoor learning for more than 60 years, during which time we have assisted more than a million young people in creating better futures.
We are one of Europe's biggest outdoor activity centres today, providing top-notch outdoor education from what, in our opinion, is the ideal setting.

By utilising the abundant natural resources nearby, we provide close to 50 land- and water-based activities.
There is something for everyone to enjoy in our excursions, which range from kayaking to fell walking, archery to caving.
We provide a range of lodging choices on-site.
We cooperate with educational institutions, colleges, and youth and business organisations from all throughout Europe.

We can offer exhilarating excursions without taking unnecessary risks thanks to thorough risk management.
We work with them to apply the highest level of knowledge and leadership in risk management and safety at all times. We are fully accredited by The Adventure Activity Licensing Authority (AALA), Adventure Mark (AAIAC), British Activity Provider Association (BAPA), and Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC).
Our instructor team is comprised of individuals who have earned appropriate outdoor teacher credentials through extensive training, rigorous evaluation by national governing bodies, and additional education. Our key staff members are also technological specialists in their respective fields.

To ensure that our instructors are the best possible, we put them all through our own in-house introduction and training programme.
And all of our instructors have had first aid training and have undergone police and DBS checks.
