Through e-RS, GPs can refer patients to any of our consultant-led services.
GPs can select the site of their initial outpatient visit using the NHS e-Referrals Tool (formerly known as Choose and Book), an electronic referral service.
A Referral Assessment Service (RAS) will be utilised by all GOSH clinics on e-RS, allowing triage of referrals before to offering an appointment.
Without making an appointment, a practitioner can assess the Clinical Referral Information (CRI) via a Referral Assessment Service (RAS).
This enables the provider to evaluate the CRI from the GP/Referrer, choose the most suitable onward clinical pathway, and then get in touch with the patient to talk about their decision and set up an appointment.

These services are contingent upon fulfilling the conditions outlined in the service description (DoS).

The Standard Contract for 2018/19 requires full use of the NHS e-Referral Service (i.e. electronic booking) for all consultant-led first outpatient appointments after a GP referral. This means that e-RS must be used for all GOSH referral activity.
Any initial outpatient visit that is not paid for will result from failure to comply.
