The manager and staff ensure that the environment is safely maintained, including securing gates to prevent unauthorised access.
Staff work extremely hard to develop positive partnerships with parents, communicating daily with them and keeping them informed of their child's next steps in learning.
Children make good progress with their development, thanks to knowledgeable staff who use individual planning sheets and assessments to identify learning needs and track progress.
On occasions, staff struggle to manage minor incidents of unwanted behaviour among children.
Staff promote healthy eating by encouraging children to bring healthy food in their packed lunch and eating with them at snack and dinner time.
Strong and continuous use of assessments supports staff in understanding what progress individual children are making, though staff could clarify what they want children to learn from different activities.
Parents are aware of their child's next steps in learning and communicate daily with staff about their experiences at the pre-school.
Children enjoy exploring the learning environment, engaging in role-play opportunities and choosing their own learning during independent play.
The pre-school has effective arrangements for safeguarding children, including training and discussions with staff on their responsibilities and procedures to follow in cases of concern.
